Hiring a new employee in Dubai involves more than just interviews and job offers — it’s a legal process that includes obtaining government approvals, securing work permits, and completing visa formalities.
Whether you are a mainland company or a free zone business, understanding the employee visa process is crucial to avoid delays and fines.
At Amazon Attestation & Documents Clearing LLC, we help businesses across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Ajman handle every step of the hiring process smoothly and legally.
Step-by-Step Process for Hiring a New Employee in Dubai
1. Apply for a Work Permit
Before your new employee can work in the UAE, you must apply for a Work Permit through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE). This document authorizes the employee to work for your company.
2. Complete WPP and ILOE Registration
WPP (Wage Protection Program) ensures salary payments are made through approved UAE banking channels.
ILOE (Involuntary Loss of Employment) is mandatory insurance that protects employees in case of job loss.
3. Work Permit Issued
Once MOHRE approves your application, the Work Permit will be issued. This is the first key document that allows the employee to proceed with the visa process.
4. Apply for Entry Permit
If your employee is outside the UAE, apply for an Entry Permit (Pink Visa) so they can travel to the UAE legally for employment purposes.
5. Travel to UAE
Your employee can now enter the UAE and begin the remaining visa procedures within the validity period of the Entry Permit.
6. Complete the Medical Test
A mandatory medical examination must be done at a government-approved medical center. This includes:
Blood tests
Chest X-ray
Medical fitness is required to proceed with the Emirates ID and residency stamping.
7. Emirates ID Application
The Emirates ID is the official identity card for all UAE residents. Typing centers like Amazon Attestation will submit your employee’s biometric data and application to ICP (Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security).
8. Medical Insurance
It’s mandatory to provide health insurance for all employees in Dubai. The insurance must be active before visa stamping.
9. Residency Visa Stamping
The final step is to stamp the residency visa in the employee’s passport, confirming their legal status to live and work in the UAE.
